I Meet Myself

Sometimes I meet myself
in the mirror of a mistake.

Not to be broken,
but to be shown
where healing was needed,
where pride stood too tall,
where fear spoke silently, yet loudly.

Yes, I never make mistakes with intention.
I do not blame others.
Rather, I look at what I should have done,
not at what others did.

Yes, it hurt.
Yes, some nights
the memory still knocks.

I know regret is not a home.
It is a doorway
to step through.

Carry the lesson,
leave the shame.
Take what the pain taught you
and let the rest become dust.

A wiser heart
is often built
from fallen pieces,
but it takes time.

I believe we should not honor the past
by punishing ourselves forever.
We honor it
by changing.

So walk on—
not as someone flawless,
but as someone honest.

The road ahead
does not ask
who you were yesterday.
It only asks
who you choose to be now.
